Sub Categories within the depth of the Media industry

Introduction

In the following blog I will be talking about four sub categories within the media industry. Two are on the more practical side of the media industry and the other two are on the more business side of the media industry. The following blog is going to analyse and explain jobs available in the sub categories below.

Creative

To begin with I am going to be talking about the creative industry, this sub category consists of the creative jobs within the media industry. Some of the jobs in the creative industry are as follows: Director, Writer, Actor, Art director, Concept artist and special effects supervisor. Each role requires specific qualities that will make them appropriate for the role. Firstly the qualities needed for a director are a the ability to work intensively for hours on end, another quality needed is strong leadership skills as well as a great attention to detail. Another quality is the ability to inspire and motivate lots of people to work as well as be able to not only make decisions but also top be able to remain calm in stressful situations. For a writer the qualities required include an in depth understanding of story, plot and narrative, being able to understand not only how to affect audiences emotionally but also to be able to create a connection between them and the audience, Another thing that a writer needs to be familiar with current formats of presenting a screenplay, a writer also needs to be able to display a creative imagination as well as being able to write visually by using sound, dialogue and description to create a world that the reader can be fully immersed in. Qualities required for a producer is good communication skills, good negotiating skills and being able to handle finances suitably. The Creative industry as a whole is probably the most recognized sub section of the media industry, and this is due to it being the one that has the most interaction will the public.

Legal

The Legal section of the media industry is quite similar to the law sections of every other industry. The legal section of the media industry mostly consists of making sure that footage and audio that is featured in projects developed in the media industry, the legal side of the media industry also handles copyright law as well as laws that were created to work within the media industry and so the legal side of the media industry handles these laws that specifically apply to the media industry and the sub section of said media industry. The legal side of the media industry is responsible for being the legal support for every section of the media industry, everything from the film industry, print industry and game development industry, all the way to the journalism industry and the comic book industry. The legal section is there to cover everyone's exposed rear ends.

Technical

The technical side to the media industry is quite similar to the creative side of the industry in the fact that it consists of a lot of freelancers as well as it being one of the most recognisable sides of the media industry. This Is due to two reasons, The first reason is due to the technical side of the media industry works very closely as well as hand in hand with the creative side of the media industry which as I mentioned before is the most well known of the sections of the media industry. The second reason why the technical side of the media industry is well known is because the technical side of the media industry works very closely with the other sectors of the media industry. The technical side of the media industry has a hand in the development of projects in the majority of the other sectors in the media industry. Jobs that are available in the technical side of the media industry include the following: Cinematographer/Director of photography, Camera Operator, Sound designer, Editor (an editor fits into both the creative and technical side of the media industry), lighting operator and technical advisor.

Finance

Finally I am going to talk about the financial side of the media industry. The financial side of the media industry is responsible for funding the individual sectors of the media industry and the media industry as a whole. The financial side of the media industry is responsible for handling all of the money that comes into the industry and out of the industry. The financial side of the media industry is responsible for handling investors donations and sending it out to the projects that are in need of it, also the financial side of the media industry is responsible for negotiating budgets with producers and are also responsible for supplying each project with a set budget that has been decided by a financial worker and the producer of the project. Those who work within the financial side of the media industry need to be good at working with money as well as have both good negotiating skills and good problem solving ability.
